ARTIST STATEMENT

My choreography ranges from a soft, classical style to that of a fiery, passionate and driven nature.  For me, dance is about bringing the inside, out; it is an art form meant to come from the inside-out, not the outside-in.

I have been heavily influenced by my teachers (Polly Rogers, Pat Thomas, Milton Meyers, Anna Marie Forsythe, Lee Theodore), who taught me to dance from the heart.  Dance is not just about steps; it’s about rhythm, syncopation and telling a story.

I believe every dancer has to be an actor, whether the choreography is dramatic, comedic, pain-filled, or character driven.  For me, dance is always about getting the dancer to be an actor, a performer, of bringing what's inside, out.
